Frequently Asked Cosmetic Dentistry Questions

At Brooklyn Heights Dental®, we provide a wide range of cosmetic dentistry procedures to those in Fort Greene, Cobble Hill, and other areas.

What can be done about my stained teeth?

There are a number of ways to correct stained teeth, depending on your individual needs. Our experience in the latest cosmetic dentistry techniques tells us that ZOOM!® teeth whitening is the most convenient and effective option currently available for bleaching teeth that have been stained by coffee, cigarettes, red wine, or other factors.

Another smile makeover option to address stained teeth is porcelain dental veneers, which can use paper-thin sheets of natural looking porcelain to revitalize your smile.

I have crooked Teeth. How can I straighten them without wearing metal braces?

At our cosmetic dentistry practice serving patients from Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, and all of New York City, we help patients straighten crooked teeth with Invisalign® virtually invisible braces. This orthodontic treatment allows patients to straighten teeth without unsightly or uncomfortable metal braces.

Porcelain dental veneers also allow our cosmetic dentistry professionals to straighten teeth, close gaps between teeth, and change the length of teeth. This procedure is sometimes referred to as "instant orthodontics" because of its ability to make these dramatic changes in only two office visits.

Frequently Asked Restorative Dentistry Questions

At Brooklyn Heights Dental®, our restorative dentistry procedures help our patients replace missing teeth or restore, preserve, and protect teeth that have been damaged.

I am missing a tooth. What can I do?

Whether you are missing one tooth or a number of teeth, our restorative dentistry professionals can help you find the restoration that is right for you. The most advanced form of tooth replacement is the dental implant. The dental implant procedure involves the surgical placement of a titanium post, then the placement of a naturally looking replacement tooth. Another excellent option is a dental bridge.

Is there a way I can prevent losing my damaged tooth?

Yes. Dental crowns can help prevent teeth from incurring further damage and decay. A dental crown is made of natural looking porcelain that fits over the entire surface of the treated tooth. This means that the damaged tooth is held together and protected from possibly harmful bacteria.

Frequently Asked General Dentistry Questions

At Brooklyn Heights Dental®, we focus as much on the long-term dental health of our patients through solid general dentistry practices as we do on providing the latest advances in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Our dental professionals serving Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, Carroll Gardens, and all of New York City, are dedicated to personalized dental care.

My gums bleed easily and are very tender and swollen. What can I do about this?

This may be a sign of gum disease. As one of only four dentists in New York City who are licensed to perform the advanced LANAP (laser-assisted new attachment procedure), an FDA approved alternative to traditional periodontal surgery, Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus provides the most advanced gum disease treatment available. The LANAP procedure is not only effective, but also reduces discomfort both during the after the procedure.

Is the pain in my jaw TMJ syndrome?

Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) syndrome is characterized by pain in the side of the head where the jaw connects to the skull. This pain is typically centered around or in the ears. If you are experiencing similar pain, you will likely want to speak with a dental professional experienced in both diagnosing and treating TMJ disorders. To be sure, Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus and the staff at Brooklyn Heights Dental® have the necessary experience to help resolve TMJ issues and help you enjoy freedom from pain.
