How Do Same-Day Dental Implants Work and Are They Worth the Cost? By Eugene D. Stanislaus on September 09, 2023

If you’re missing a tooth or multiple teeth, you know the challenges that can pose. You may not be able to enjoy your favorite foods like before. You could also have a speech impediment from tooth loss. There’s also the social stigma about missing teeth and what that says about your health and hygiene.

Thankfully, Brooklyn Heights Dental® can place dental implants to support crowns, bridges, and dentures. In some cases, dental implants and a restoration can be placed in just one visit.

Our team has helped answer questions about same-day implants from patients all over Brooklyn Heights and Fort Greene. Let’s go over some basics about same-day implant dentistry.

What Are Same-Day Dental Implants?

Same-day dental implants are just what they sound like. Patients with missing teeth come to our practice for an appointment and they are able to have a functioning implant and a restoration crafted in that single day.

What Technology Makes Same-Day Dental Implants Possible?

Same-day dental implants are made possible by a combination of CEREC® technology and advances in implant planning.

CEREC is an in-office scanning and milling unit that allows us to create custom tooth-colored restorations at the practice. We do not need to rely on an outside dental lab, which adds time to the treatment process.

In terms of implant planning, new diagnostic tools allow us to scan the patient’s mouth, assess the gap where a tooth or teeth are missing, and optimize implant placement to achieve same-day success.

Are Same-Day Dental Implants Right for Me?

Same-day dental implants could be right for your needs. Candidates for treatment are typically:

  • In good oral health and general health
  • Have sufficient and strong jawbone structure

During your consultation with our team, we can let you know if you are eligible for same-day dental implants.

How Much Do Same-Day Dental Implants Cost?

The average price of a dental implant is around $3,000 to $4,500.

That said, the cost of dental implant surgery and restoration placement can vary from patient to patient based on their needs and if any preparatory procedures are required, such as bone grafting or sinus lift surgery.

In addition, insurance will not cover the oral surgery to place dental implants, but your coverage may help cover the cost of the implant restoration (crown, bridge, or denture).

Are Patients Happy About the Results Given the Price Tag?

Many patients feel that same-day dental implants are worth it given the stability provided and the convenience of not waiting months for a fully functioning smile.

Rest assured that the team at Brooklyn Heights Dental® will work with you to keep out-of-pocket costs down and help make same-day dental implant treatment affordable.

Weighing Your Options for Tooth Replacement

In addition to same-day implants, our practice offers Teeth Tomorrow®, a process that provides a zirconia implant restoration the day after an initial visit to place implants.

There are also traditional tooth replacement options available, such as regular bridges, partial dentures, and complete dentures.

During your visit, we can review all of your options and which one might be best for you.
