Same-Day Dental Implants Can Restore Your Bite and Smile in a Single Appointment

Same day dental implants: an image of a woman smiling as she inspects her reflection in a handheld mirror.Using advanced technology and conservative techniques, Dr. Eugene D. Stanislaus and Dr. Lisa Reid can provide same-day dental implants at their Brooklyn Heights, NY, practice. With 3-D imaging and an in-office CEREC system, we can place and restore implants comfortably and conveniently in a single day. You can leave our office with a full and complete smile, enjoying restored dental function sooner than ever before.

Are You a Candidate for Same-Day Dental Implants?

Unlike traditional dental implants treatment, same-day restorations will allow you to receive an implant-supported prosthesis the same day as your implant surgery. We can provide same-day crowns and bridges, while with implant-supported dentures, we can even replace a full of arch of teeth.

You must be in good oral health and have a healthy jawbone to qualify for any kind of dental implants treatment. In addition, your jaw must be strong enough to immediately support your dental implant. If your bone has started to recede because of missing teeth, it may not be stable enough to support implant posts. Fortunately, in many cases, our dentists can perform a bone grafting procedure to replace lost tissue and restore your candidacy for treatment.

How We Plan Same-Day Procedures

If you qualify for treatment, Dr. Stanislaus or Dr. Reid will design a personalized implant surgery. To determine the ideal position and angle for placement, your practitioner will take detailed, 3-D images of your jaw using our cone beam computer tomography (CT) scanner. These highly accurate scans ensure that your implants are placed in the strongest areas of your jaw and create less of an impact on the surrounding bone. This accuracy can decrease risk of implant failure and improve your recovery.

Patients can enjoy complete dental function almost immediately after surgery.

What Makes Same-Day Restorations Different

With traditional dental implants treatment, you will require at least two procedures. During your first surgery, your doctor will place the implant posts. You will then spend the next three to six months healing before you can receive abutment pieces to connect your restoration to your implants. However, with same-day restorations, you can enjoy the benefits of an implant-supported prosthesis after one procedure.

For same-day restorations, your dentist will attach a temporary restoration to your implant posts immediately after surgery. Often, we will use our CEREC® system to create smaller restorations, such as dental crowns, at our office. Larger restorations will be prepared at our partner dental lab before your procedure, ensuring they are available on the day of your surgery. In four to six months, once your jaw has healed and integrated with the implant posts, your dentist will remove your temporary restoration and attach a permanent prosthetic.

The Benefits of Same-Day Implants

While both traditional and same-day implants require a temporary prosthetic during recovery, the same-day option can look more natural and provide superior support than temporaries. Patients can enjoy complete dental function very quickly after surgery. Because the prosthetic does not slip out of place easily, most patients can eat a varied diet within a few days of the procedure. Drs. Stanislaus and Reid's expertise can further ensure minimal discomfort and a fast recovery. They can plan highly precise treatment that can save you time and can conveniently restore your smile in a single procedure.
